problems dropping dreamfeed
« on: March 15, 2008, 04:25:46 am »
Hi ladies,

I have been a lurker on this fab board for sometime but finally have a reason to post.

My DD is now just shy of 7mths. She has been on BW since she was 3 days old. She is an Angel baby and has been sleeping through the night with dreamfeed since she was 7 weeks old. however, now the time has come to drop the dreamfeed I am running into problems!!! I am now down to a 9:30pm 90 mls feed and she is waking 3 ish 4 ish 5 ish and we wake around 6 30am anyway. Now don't get me wrong she falls straight back to sleep when myself or DH shh her ( 2 mins tops) but when my DH gave her 120mls by mistake at the dreamfeed she slept through ??? The other things that are a concern is she has cut down on her milk feeds in the day ( saw pp on fast flow teats so am going to purchase today) but we make up for it by adding it to her solid food about one hour later ( she loves her solids) but is there a chance it could be teeth??

This is not like her, she has reflux and had very bad eczema and still went through the night, so I don't understand why now we are running into problems.

TIA

hi

it surely can be teething or maybe other milestones? has she started doing something she hasn't been doing up till now? like sitting up by herself or even crawling? it can also affect their sleep.
but as for df- maybe she's not ready yet to really go without it? why are you trying to drop it? because of smaller daytime feeds? or because she's close to 7months and you think she should be off DF?

Hi Mona,

Yes, I must admit I did wonder if she was not ready. I guess I just thought as she was 7 months it was time. Do you think i should just hold off for now??

Thanks

Yeah I think you easily can.
we kept offering DF until at least 8 months as dd was just not ready sooner to drop it completely.
you know, when she's not so eager to drink it and you notice her daily food intake is big enough to keep her asleep at night, you can try reducing the amount and/or dilluting formula with water.
