EBF, pumping for solids questions :)
« on: March 24, 2008, 14:00:20 pm »
We are going to start on solids today! Yay, I know he is ready, he can sit up pretty well on his own and he is about ready to eat everything on my plate :)

I am starting with rice cereal today and figured I would mix it with BM to make it more familiar.  I single side feed except in the morning since he sleeps through the night without feeds and I need some relief.  He drains the first side and eats just enough of the second that I am not leaking till the next feed.

I pumped from the second side about 30min after he finished eating. I only got about 1.5 ounces but I believe that is normal?
Do I count that as just an extension of the first feed and feed him from that side at his next feed or do I do the side he started on this morning?
I hate pumping, it usually hurts a little and I never get much, so, for those that ebf, do you mix your cereal with BM or formula?

Moving from one stage to the next can be stressful, all new things to learn and try!

Yes, that's what I would do.  Do the next feed from the side you pumped on.
