Sigh, drinking whole milk, some advice please.......
« on: April 01, 2008, 20:07:54 pm »
DD is now 15 months, was doing sooooo well on milk products, so dietician said start on whole milk, just go for it. So now 6-9oz morn and 9oz eve.  Prob is since we started that she has an awful eczema rash on her bottom and comes and goes on her face, her cheeks of her bottom look AWFUL! Is this fairly common if there is still a little intolerance?  Dietician said to keep on with milk products but give her the neocate milk for a week, and see if it clears up. I guess I am just disappointed, poos have been normal no belly ache, more nw but I think its a routine issue, feel bad for her usually peachy bum.

Anyone experienced this when moving from neocate to whole milk?

Hi hun, its like 2 big rings of redness, and lots of red raised dots, very dry to touch like shes grown an extra layer of skin  :( :( :( :( Def def raised! I dont want to go back onto neocate, I wonder if a toddler milk has less milk protein in it than whole milk  :-\  :-\  I know dietician will suggest pepti next, as neocate sooooo expensive. She was not impressed tonight when I gave her back the blackcurrant neocate xxx

No, she wouldnt drink thru a straw I dont think, she doesnt tend to dribble a lot out,  but what she does she wipes round her face kwim? And I suppose coming out the other end it could be making her poor bum sore :-( Am def eliminateing it for a few days cant stand the thought of her suffering with it  :(

Poor Abbi :(. James's forst sign of allergies was eczema then he developed more symptoms. I suppose if Abbi is slowly outgrowing her intollerance it may be that whole milk as a drink is just too much at this point. Instead of neocate you could try nutramigen maybe or another hypoallergenic formula for a few months and then try again.

It was not your fault Emma. Abbi had been doing well on milk products so it was just the next step. It is awful when this kind of thing happens.

Oh big hugs Emma.  It just is never simple, is it?   :(  We went through the same thing here.  I can't even remember when (still too sleep deprived!), but we tried Charlie on whole milk.  His eczema flared up on his bottom, back of his legs, and his cheeks.  So we're back on hypoallergenic formula in the morning and at night.  I can't believe he went back to drinking that yucky stuff.  Per his ENT and GI specialist we are going to wait probably another two months and they try something like Lactaid.  It's easier on the tummy.

Glad Abbi's rash is gone.   Don't feel guilty!
