Collecting Stool Samples from BF Baby, 3 Months

Has anyone had to do this?  My ped wants me to fill six vials with poop for testing because my lo's poop is so mucousy.  I have decided on my own that he has both dairy and soy intolerances, but this testing should confirm and let us know if there are other problems.  It's been a week and a half, and I only have four filled.  I just never know when he will poop, and it's all water and snot, so it's really hard to collect more than half a teaspoon or so per poop (if that).  She told me to put plastic wrap in the diaper, but then (WARNING: GROSS ALERT), I just end up "milking" the sopping piece of plastic wrap over the vial, getting poop everywhere!!!  Looking for advice or tips.

Oh dear, sounds tricky. No advice but wondering how you are scooping the poop?

They gave me tongue depressors to scrape it off the diaper.

Ah thats what I thought....
not sure what to suggest, when we had it done I took the whole nappy in to the lab and they did the collecting

Oh, I am so sorry. When our pediatrician ordered further testing of DS poop, she just scooped it out of his diaper at the office. All of our tests involved a nurse taking a swipe with a wooden stick.

I cannot imagine have to fill the vials myself...but then again, I never saw myself closely examining his poop for visible blood.

what about scraping it off of the plastic, or someone hold the vial and you very carefully pour the poo?

So I'm not crazy to think they should just take the damn diapers themselves?

That "someone" would be dh, and I'm not sure he would do it.  I'm getting desperate, though, so he may just have to man up.
