I agree with PP (kelly) that soy can also be a bugger for refluxers that are dairy intolerant. My DS was MSPI and I figured it out, like you, by the help of the wonderful men and women on these boards. I would check with the bfding board as to how you can replenish your supply best. I went thru similar scenarios of trying formulas and weaning. I was able to up my production each time by feeding every 2hr for the first 24hr. In the US Nutramigin and Alimentum are hypos that we can get w/o prescription. However, b/c they are truly hypo-allergenic I seem to recall the UK requires a prescription. Somebody else will have to answer that one. A last note about hypos - most babies do wonderfully on them. A small percentage (in the single digits according to my ped.) can't even take the broken down proteins of the soy and dairy that comprises these hypos. So, cleaning up your diet of soy and dairy is a first line of defense. It's not impossible. Read all labels. Casein, whey and dairy and soy and anything that has the word "soy" should be eliminated. You may be able to slowly introduce whey and soy lecithin back in your diet later. I agree w. Kelly about cutting back on the foods for your LO. My DS had an 'immature gut' and really couldn't tolerate solids until yams at 8m. Pears were too harsh. As a note: some jarred foods have sorbitol or asorbic acid which doesn't make refluxers happy. Also, cut out grains that may be harsh. We couldn't do oats until closer to 11m. Karen aka "marisa's mama" was invaluable on first foods. You may be able to search some of her posts as long ago as 18m. that are of interest regarding 'immature gut.' Our safe, gentle first foods at 8m went as follows: yams, prunes, peaches, lamb. I know that's a bunch of info that I have tossed out. Take in what may resonate with your specific situation. I know this is a frustrating situation. You just want your LO to be rested and comfortable. Hugs! Love, Ashley
