Bedtimes getting wonky - is she ready for less sleep?
« on: April 19, 2008, 15:41:14 pm »
Alrighty, dd has always needed more sleep than average...we recently have been having trouble getting her down at bedtimes and she has always been easy to put down (she can stay awake in her crib for 2 hours!!).  She has been on relatively the same routine since 14mos or so, so I'm wondering if she just needs less sleep now?  I am nervous to try and end up with an OT dd...this has been her routine for ages it seems (how dare she CHANGE on me!  ;)):

8am wake, breakfast
11:30am lunch
12:00 nap
1:30-2:00 wake, snack
5:00 dinner
7:30-8:00 (depending on length of nap and cues) bedtime

Lately she has been babbling in her crib until well past 9pm!  I am suspecting teething as well, which has been making her eat poorly and that always messes up sleep too - but last night we had company over and I was a "bad" BW mom and didn't put her down until they left - at 9:30pm!!  She did GREAT going down and didn't wake up once and slept until 8:30, happy as a clam!  So I'm wondering if she just needs more total A time during the day and less night sleep?  Maybe wake her earlier (I can't bear the thought of pushing bedtime back!  ;D) and move nap up so she has a longer A time before bed?  She has always preferred a short morning A time and a longer A time before bed.

Helloooooooooo Kat !

You are NOT in any shape or form a "bad" mum, let alone a "bad" BW mum ! You are my sleep guru darling !!

I'm thinking longer A times myself. Bethany is nigh on 2 after all. I know, you hate to mess with the routine but heck give it a shot. Join the club !! Check in on Annie's thread. Poor lamb is suffering.

Hugs,

Oky doky, I'm willing to take the plunge if you lovely ladies support me!  ;)  Natasha your LOs are getting SOOO big!!

So should I gradually start waking her earlier to get her day routine moved up??  We don't want to give up our evenings!!
