Fussy Eater

any ideas about our ds.

he is a twin - born 6 weeks premature.  is 5 months or 3 1/2 months corrected.  from day one, he didn't bf well and even with the bottle didn't eat well.  has had reflux and is on ranitidine and has relatively fixed that problem.

we had him on enfamil a+, just recently switched to alimentum - hypo allergenic.  as a result, he has increased his average feed to 50-60cc/ml to 100 cc.  but he is still not gaining weight as fast as the dr's would like.

any tips on getting the baby to eat more/better? dr's are going to look into a possible growth hormone problem.

he is currently 8 lbs 11 ounces. born 3 lbs 3 oz

thanks,
rz

It might be that the stage 2 nipple is too slow for him, and that he is having to work too hard for a feed.  I would definitely give the next stage up nipple a try and see if that helps improve things a little.

If you find that the next stage is too fast and your lo cannot cope with the flow, you could always try making an extra hole in the stage 2 nipple.

How is your lo acting on the bottle?  Is he fussy, does he start crying?
