16.5 month old EW
« on: May 12, 2008, 16:56:22 pm »
So my LO seems to be off her schedule again. We moved 3 weeks ago just as she was going through a growth spurt and she had no problem with adjusting and had great long naps and sleeps. Now she is back on her regular pattern for the past 2 weeks and the past few days she has been waking up earlier.

Here was our sleep schedule:
7:15: wake up
1:00: nap
2:15: wake up
7:30: bedtime

The past few days this has been the sleep schedule:
5:45-6am: wake up
12:15-12:30: nap
1:15-1:30: wake up
7:15: bedtime

She sleeps through the night, but is teething so has been restless. I rarely have to go in to settle her - she usually settles herself, although last night woke up crying 1 hour after bedtime.

Could she be OT? I haven't changed her routine. Could it be teething? Her last eye tooth is coming up.

Should I stick to early naps and earlier bed? Should I push back her bedtime (I am leaning towards no since that could cause OT problems, although my friends suggest this as a remedy).

I can't take these early morning wakings!!

My guess is OT is setting in with the short nap and similar bedtime, teamed with the restless sleep that comes with teething. I would suggest making bedtime 30 mins earlier for a few days. She will be getting a longer stretch of nightsleep, perhaps yielding you a longer nap in the process. Teething is horrible isn't it? Are you giving her pain meds before sleep?

We give her Camilia, a homeopathic remedy. It seems to help. Today she slept for 45 minutes during nap and we put her to bed at 7pm. So here's hoping!!!!! We'll try the earlier bed time for a bit. She went through this in late March when her other eye teeth were coming in. It took a good 2 weeks to get settled back again.

I give my LO Camilia too. It just doesn't help as well when it comes to nightlseep I find. I give Motrin just before bed, it lasts 8 hrs and really lets her have a restfull nights sleep.

The shorter naps are an indication of OT for sure. Hope the morning goes okay for you.

This morning she was up at 6:10am!!  :( She had a good nap yesterday, 1hr15 mins which is normal. Today I put her down for a nap at 12:15 since she was showing signs of being tired and I really didn't want to wait until 1!

Hopefully it will sort out in a few days. EW suck I know. I would put her to bed early tonight and see what happens.

Yeah, we put her down at 6:45 so here's hoping! At least if she wakes up at 6, I know she has had a good night's sleep and hopefully that helps. I want to eventually get her back to bedtime at 7:30 but I know it might take a week or two to get there. I guess the best thing is to go slowly? Today she only napped for 45 mins... :( I am hesitant to give her motrin or tylenol since she hasn't really woken up at night, not more than fussing in her sleep. We'll see how tonight plays out.

Last night we put her to bed at 7:05pm and she stirred a bit and woke up once (easily settled back) and then slept until 7:05am! She is definitely teething (at least 2 teeth coming in!). Put her down for her nap 15 mins later today. We'll take it slowly and eventually get back on her regular schedule when she is ready. I was so happy she slept until 7!!

That's great. Definately progress! Teething is the worst for sure.
