Hi ladies
dd2 is 10 months old - up until about a month ago she was wolfing her food down from the spoon as well as finger foods and sleeping 12 hours solid at night.
A month ago she started to reject the spoon (which I know is very common at this age) so we just finger fed her instead which she's fine with. The problem is I'm not convinced that she's swallowing the food. She sucks and knaws on her food but when she has a mouthful once she's sucked the juicy stuff out of it she seems to be spitting the rest of it out. For example today she has scrambled egg on toast she sucked down the egg as best she could then mushed up the toast in her mouth but instead of swallowing it she spat it out.
This alone would not really concern me, we had similar feeding issues with dd1 at this age, what does concern me though is that she had very bad reflux for which she is still on medication and I'm worried that her oesophagus may be damaged in someway - she makes a low moaning sound when she is trying to eat PLUS the fact that she can drink about 20oz of juice no problem with each meal (if I don't give it to her she gets very upset and willnot eat any further).
My hv does not seem unduly concerned (do they ever?) but told me to take her to the doctors. The thing is I just KNOW what dr will say at this stage ie. it's normal for babies to be fussy, don't worry because her weight hasn't dropped etc but I just feel this is more than fussiness.
I'm posting really to see if anyone else has had a similar experience to this - it's driving me ever so slightly mad and I'd really appreciate some input.
Thanks you ladies
