All over the place!
« on: May 29, 2008, 19:01:10 pm »
My daughter is 7 weeks today and we are having some problems with short naps. We are trying to do EASY with her but its really not working due to the short naps. She is taking 30 minute naps during the day. So our EASY looks like ESA. I know I should not feed to sleep but by the time the three hour mark comes she is hungry and tired. Any suggestions?

Until you get naps sorted out, at three-hr mark, I would feed, then do something with her to wake her...maybe a diaper check? Then put her down to sleep if she's tired. IMO, I think the most important thing about EASY is separating feed from nap, even if its just 5 minutes so DS doesn't associate feed w/ sleep...

FYI...My lo is 4 months, and she has never napped consistently. Sometimes I get 30 minutes, other times 2 hours. So I've never been fortunate enough to have the textbook baby w/ textbook schedule. But, I'm okay w/ going w/ the flow just as long as I do a little something right after feeding if lo is tired.

i agree with emma rose - as long as you're not feeding to sleep it's fine to put down right after a feed if they're awake.

at 7 weeks the A time is really really short.  especially after a 30 min nap, all you may have time for is a feed, diaper change and back to bed.

what's her A time now?  it should be between 1 to 1.5 hours, but after a short nap it may be just 45 min.
