My little guy is going to be four months old this week. Up to now, he has been eating every 3 to 3 1/4 hours during the day. He used to get the dream feed, which worked beautifully! One night, my husband fell asleep on the sofa and the dream feed was missed. Emmett slept through till morning, so the next night, we purposely skipped it. Ever since, we have not done it. He has 5 feeds per day (bottle, no solids). The last is at 8:30 pm. Bedtime is about 9:30, and the first morning feed is at 8:00 am.
Now that he is almost four months, I'm thinking about a 4-hour EASY routine. But this would mean reducing the number of feeds to 4 instead of 5, since we don't dream feed anymore. They would be 8:00 am, 12:00pm, 4:00 pm, and 8:00 pm.
What I would like to know is - is it OK for a four month old baby to eat only 4 times per day? I'm not sure his stomach is big enough to handle the extra ounces we would add to the 4 feeds after removing the fifth feed. I don't want to try this and find Emmett waking at night, because he is a wonderful sleeper right now.... he sleeps about 10 hours now with occasional trips into his room to pop a soother in his mouth the odd day.
Any help would be appreciated!

How many ounces is he having at each feed?
My DD2 dropped to 4feeds at 3months after she started sleeping 12hrs at night.

Wow, that's a long sleep!
DS is having 6 oz per feed 5 times per day right now, for a grand total of 30 oz.
He almost always finishes it.
If I divide that 6 oz. by 4, I have 1 1/4 oz to add to each of the four bottles he would be getting. That seems like a lot, and I'm not sure he'd eat that much. I'm a little nervous about making the change too suddenly, as it might throw him off a little...

Thanks so much for the info!
If I give Emmett more than 6 oz. at this point, he throws up / spits up a lot of it.
Maybe his tummy is a bit small yet to drop a feed and increase the amounts in the remaining ones. I think I'll try in a few weeks - he'll be 4 mo. 1 week.
It's good to know from your experience that a baby his age could do fine on only 4 feeds per day. It will really save time and allow us to lengthen outings a bit by not having to rush home.
