My DD2 is 8 months old and has reflux that is being treated (but will be reviewed by her paed next week since there are new NWs, I wonder if that's part of the problem). She is BF and we started solids a few weeks ago. She eats small amounts of chicken and bananas and some 'nutrios' (cheerio-type cereal). We're doing BLW, and a lot of the foods we've tried have made her reflux flare up so we are going extra slow. She has a meal in the morning (1/4 banana, handful of nutrios) and at dinner (1 tablespoon of minced chicken and a few nutrios). We tried weaning her from her swaddle two weeks ago, completely unsuccessfully, she had extra NWs and EWs and short naps. I tried it for a week and then gave up.
She has had 1 NW for a feed since she was 7 weeks old. I truly don't mind getting up and feeding her at that time (it was between 3 and 5 am) because she has reflux and likely takes smaller feeds through the day as a result. She always went right back down and woke at 7 for the day. Now, she is up twice, at 1:00 and 4:30 (or thereabouts) and up for the day at 6:30. She feeds both times and goes right back down. Or if she only wakes up once at 2:30, she's up at 5 again for a feed and the day.
Our routine looks like this during the day:
6:30 Awake
7:00 E, A
9:30 S
11:30 E, A
2:30 S
4:00 E, A
6:30 E
7:00 Bed
She has no props, settles independently. Her room now has a room-darkening blind, but that didn't stop the NWs last night. I tried pat/shh for both NWs last night and the night before, but she just remains awake (and escalates) until I feed her. If I was feeding her a lot of solids, I would think that she is filling up on solids in the day but still needs the milk, hence the waking at night. I stopped feeding her solids for 2 days last week to see if it would make any difference but the waking continued.
I posted on general sleep back when I initially got rid of the swaddle because we had prop (swaddle) issues, NWs, EWs, short naps, etc. but now it's just a NW issue for the most part and I wanted some fresh perspective on it. Hope that's OK!
TIA!!
