Finn has been suffering at the hands of the short nap monster for a while now ::)

Today I put him up for his usual nap, his dummy fell out and I watched him self soothe himself to sleep without it which was amazing to watch!! (Am considering weaning the dummy but want to sort naps out first)

Well anyway, he woke at the usual 45 minute mark really crying, I went up but he looked so tired so I thought Id have a go at re settling him.  His arms and legs were flying everywhere so I put him on his side which usually helps and he went back to sleep with the dummy. He woke an hour later, I went in and he had rolled on to his back and was again, self soothing himself back to sleep (no dummy)

Do you think this could work long term to extend naps?! He is usually really hard to re settle.  Does it mean anything?! The fact that a change of position seems to help him sleep longer?!

Clare, that is fantastic news  ;D

DD also sleeps better on her side.  She has a lovey blanket which I generally lay down the side of her she will then snuggle up to it and roll onto her side.

Aw, it sounds so sweet!  Nothing like watching a baby sleep!  Good for Finn (and you too!)!  I hope it continues!  :)

Thank you, he was up at 6 as usual and had a 30 minute cat nap before being woken to go out for school :o( This has messed the EASY up already as hes due a feed at 10 so will prob go to sleep after that.

I will try what I did yesterday and see how we go!! Im really excited, really hoping it could work!! Would be SO nice to have some time to do things.  Yesterday I kept thinking I could do this or I could have a nap but then I kept thinking but he'll wake up soon!! If he can get a long nap into his EASY I may even get a shower once a week!! ;o)

Hmmm... okay!! Had a really bad night with harvey last night so I went to put Finn up for a sleep came back down and Harvey asleep on the sofa!! Half past 10!! Anyway, thought Id wait for Finn to go off then have a nap myself, he settled ok but when he woke after 40 minutes I felt like nothing on earth and couldnt face settling him again, so put him into bed with me... I know, I know!! But I am exhausted at the moment, 3 kids is HARD!! He slept for another 2 hours with me and then we got up.  So yes he had a nice long nap but not quite as planned!!

Will try tomorrow though, Im not going to give up, yesterday was so nice!! I guess at least he had the long nap and its getting him used to it being part of the day, just wanted it to be in his cot really but tomorrow it will be!!

Thanks for thinking of me Paula xxxx

Huge hugs hun.

A little AP once in a while is not bad.  Especially if you needed the sleep yourself.
