short nap but happy upon waking
« on: July 11, 2008, 15:19:52 pm »
My lo is 10 weeks and can sometimes fall asleep on her own, but not always.  She was taking at least one 2 hr nap a day and the rest were hit and miss.  When she wakes after 30-45 min she is completely content to stay in her crib a while.  I try to leave her to see if she'll go back to sleep - sometimes yes sometimes no.  Yesterday it was no all day long and by bedtime she was so OT it took an hour of crying w/ me holding her the entire time to go to sleep.  She then slept until 3:30 ate and back to sleep until 7.  At 8:15 I did winddown of change diaper, swaddle, sing one song and rock until content and she was asleep on her own by 8:30.  She woke at 9:15 so I decided to leave her and at 9:40 she was back to sleep.  Now I don't want to wake her at 10 to feed so I'll give her an extra 30 min to catch up and feed her at 2.5 hrs next time to get on track.  Does anyone have any advise how long to leave her when she wakes early?  I don't want to rush in if she will go back on her own, but I don't want all of her A time in the crib swaddled either!!! I was thinking 15 min but today it took just a little longer.  Also I never would have even known she was awake if I didn't have the video monitor, she is quiet as can be, I just happened to look at it and she was awake!   thanks!!

hi.  if she wakes up and it's still nap time i would leave her until she cries and see if she'll go back to sleep.
