Bottle and burping a 10 mo old
« on: August 07, 2008, 01:11:39 am »
I have just switched from BF to a bottle. LO has no problem with the bottle and I actually think he prefers it (flows faster) The problem I'm running into is he wakes up with gas about an hour after he's gone to bed. I have tried to burp him but he gets really fussy. He wiggles and whines until I put him in his bed. He's always been a hard baby to burp but with BF, it was never really an issue.

When he starts to cry, I'll pick him up and hold him and he usually burps. But by now he's awake and wants to play. I'll let him crawl around for a few minutes (I've tried leaving him and he cries so much he gags)

Any suggestions or tips on gas relief?

Have you tried stopping half way through a feed to burp? What bottle and sized teat are you using?

He gets really fussy and impatient if we stop. We are using either a fast flow or medium flow nipple. I've tried both.
