my 1 year old getting up out of bed
« on: August 13, 2008, 14:08:02 pm »
Hey everyone,

Am losing my mind a bit...my daughter was 1 recently and I have taught her in the past how to sit up on her own on 1 side so that she cant get up when in bed, well now, she can get up on the other side and keeps getting up and out of bed and banging on the door or coming out of it....What am I supposed to do???

My sleep schedule is basically, she wakes up at 8.30am sometimes before - like today she woke up at 8am. After 2 1/2 hours she goes to bed for 1 1/2 hours then she is up for 2 1/2 hours then sleeps for 45 mins and this has been working for the most part but now I have to help her go to sleep in the afternoons and evenings and I dont want to get into a pattern there....Im getting annoyed though that I have to put her back so often but its not working so in the end I stay....

What is the sleep plan for a year old baby? Is she not up enough? like I said in the mornings she goes right to sleep, I was thinking to keep her up longer in the morning tomorrow what does everyone think? is she just supposed to have 1 nap a day now? obviously if she gets overtired then she doesnt sleep on her own because shes overtired.

Any help would be appreciated!
thankyou in advance
Claire

my one year old is on one nap a day and has been for about a month now.  he's happier and i'm happier.  he too loved his morning nap, but it was a fight to get him down for an afternoon nap so i finally just dropped the morning nap completely and now he'll take one 2 hour nap a day.  sleeps about 10.5 hours at night.  hope that helps...that's just what works for us

We had a 12 hour night and a 1.5-2 hour nap at that age.

And a closed cot, still do. I wouldn't know how to deal with him getting out of there though.

She sleeps in a bed like a bunk bed only the bottom is a small double bed. I taught her about 2 months ago how to get down off of high things so she can get down fine and thats how she gets out of bed....

When do I give her the 1 nap? do I just start that straight away?

I am by far no expert but 2 1/2 hours A time seems very short for a 1 year old.  Could she be UT and that is why she is waking and looking to be entertained?

My lo is just now making the transition to 1 nap at almost 14 mos. There isn;t an exact time to make the transition.  Watch out for her to be refusing afternoon naps or other signs of totally wonky sleep.
