Can a baby be a light sleeper?

Where does the expression sleep like a baby come from anyways?!?!?
I have never seen my baby in that stage 4 sleep!

She wakes very easily. If I need to wake her from a nap, all I have to do is walk into her room. I don't have to say a word, or touch her.

In the middle of the night if I get up to use the bathroom, she wakes up - and I tip-toe and I don't even flush the toilet! She'll often cry when she hears me, but once she realizes no one is up for good, goes right back to sleep.

The garbage truck that comes every Tues. has woken her from her nap more times than I care to remember.

DH works out of the house and he is often in and out. If he comes home during one of her naps, she'll often wake up.

I nap when she does as well, but if I decide to get up before she does, she'll wake early.

Needless to say, we talk to each other in whisperers, have all ringers off on phones, and a note on the front door not to ring the bell.

Now my DH and I walk around on our tippy toes, but it does not seem to matter! She has TWO forms of white noise in her room, and her door is shut.

Everytime I hear a dog bark, a truck go by, the lawnmowers going I hold my breath. I hate it!

Hi and hugs, Abbi is a light sleeper too. WE use an air cooler in her room which blows cool air out and makes a humming noise like a hairdryer type noise. It really drowns out the noise I tell you! And now nothing wakes her from her naps :) :) :) The same would also work with an air con unit I would think. Just an idea :) I so know what you mean, before we had the air cooler it drove me insane!!! You can also get CD's that play this sort of noise, if you look on ebay you should find one, and just stick on repeat :)

Thanks. We do use an air con unit AND a humidifier. Maybe I need something that drowns out noise more effectively?

Maybe yes, if they are low sound humidifier and air con machine? Hope you find something that works for you! xx
