Hi,

My LO is 14 months and aince he was 6 months we used biumpers on his crib and cot.

When we realised he could climb out of his cot with the aid of the bumpers, we removed them.

But since he is a very restless/active sleeper he finds himself in all sorts of different positions throughout the night.

I went in to check on him tonight, and he was lying horizontally with his legs dangling out of the side of the cot rails.

Does your LO do this? Is it a problem/danger?

Should I consider transitioning hin to a bbb now?

Other than this occasion he sleeps fine and fits well in his cot when lying the correct vertical way.

I would imagine if I did convert his cot to a bed, I would need to use a bedrail because he is so active in his sleep.

Would appreciate your thoughts/advice.

Thanks!

My lo is 19 months old and when younger she put her legs and arms outside the crib.  However, I got her breathable bumpers in USA that can be used even with crib raised.  Maybe check online for them.  They are great and are different than bumpers with knots--they are velcro.  Hope this helps!

We use the mesh bumpers too, since arms and legs were getting stuck.

Here is what they look like:

Bought ours at babies r us.

My DD sleeps like this and it has never been a problem, she is such a fidget that I am sure a BGB would be more dangerous! She wear a grobag and still manages to have each leg poke through the railings!

Tracy suggest putting off moving to a toddler bed until 2 if you can, I think.  As for the bumpers I posted, they squish down if stepped on, since they collapse and are fastened with velcro.  We did it because our lo was crying b/c he couldn't get his legs out himself and was waking ALOT at night.  (Not only b/c of this, but because of reflux.)  We were battling that and really didn't need to deal with this, too.  lol

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I had a look at the babies r us UK website, but couldn't find the bumper. I'll try to call them, but perhaps it's not available in the UK...

Hmm, that is where I did purchase ours, but in the US.  Call and see what they say :-)

My D has collapseable bumpers too and stilll sticks her legs out, it doesn't disturb her sleep so it doesn't bother me.

Thanks. By the way, did u get the bumpers that flip over the top rails of the cot or just the ones that cover the four insides?

Ours are about 12 in high and cover the insides.
