some advice please for 7week old
« on: August 27, 2008, 06:13:30 am »
question for a 7 week old
he wakes up at 6am - dream fed him about 10.45pm
so my question is do I still wake him up at 7am for a feed?!
he wants to go straight back to sleep after feeding, don't really want to encourage him to be up at 6!
Yesterday the next time he woke was 8.40am.
any advice?

At that age, I know I never woke either of my two up unless I really needed to go somewhere. Around 3 months, wake-up time became more consistent. Some will say to wake, I personally didn't see the point at that age. Later on, it does become more important, but esp if this is your first child, I would let them sleep and enjoy the rest too!

Because we liked having a 7pm (ish) bedtime and we wanted to start setting her internal clock from the beginning we did pick a time to have her up by.  She usually woke up at 7am on her own, but other days we woke her up so that our day followed around the same time line.

Of course it's completely up to you and what you want to do. :)

***By 3 months, my dd was set in her ways and was a 6am riser until the age of 2  ;)  LOL

I agree with Michelle-at this age, let them set their wake up time for now until a few more weeks.  If you need to go somewhere, than wake.  Our lo's are just a week apart, so we should trade notes!!!  :)
