2 Hour party every night, 6.5 month old!
« on: September 08, 2008, 01:59:19 am »
Hi, Please help if you can.
My 6.5 month old keeps waking through the night at random times. She doesn't seem to want to go back to sleep for about 2 hours.
She is on solids and seems to love them.
Our day looks like this.
7 - 7.30 awake milk and half weetabix with two ice cubes of fruit and sometimes a slice of toast to suck on some goes down
9.45 bed sleep
11.25 I wake he and milk (as we need to go and collect sisters from nursery)
12.15 lunch 4-5 ice cubes of fruit/veg chunks of cheese
1.45 bed sleep
3.30 -4 awake milk
5 evening meal again fruit and veg usually takes both and will eat off my plate too if suitable
6 bath
6.45 milk
7 bed
random night wakening. Sometimes pretty p'd that she is awake but then plays and chats/shouts, just enough to wake me and DH. Then coughs for food, have been feeding her as thought it may settle her but often makes her drowsy and then she is awake again 10  ins later shouting and messing.
She does have a dummy which I put in her cot and she can find and put in herself. She is often playing popping it in and out when I go to her.
So is it my A time not long enough? She gives pretty solid sleep cues and is out almost instantly.
Is it a prop issue? She finds and puts her own dummy in at nap times, so was hoping this was more of a comfort than a prop, and I know she sleeps without it at night once it has dropped out.
Does she need more food through the day? This hardly seems possible as she seems to be on quite allot anyway.
Thanks for any thoughts you may have.
I dream of hot cups of tea and delicious cake, long chats with friends and luxurious bubble baths!!

For a 6.5 month old she is eating a TON of solids so I don't think solids are your problem.  ;D
How are her milk feeds?  Are the same or less than before you started solids?

She's on two naps correct?
How much is she napping total during the day (hours)?

How does she go down at night...easily, fussing, crying?

When she wakes up in the middle of the night does she start off by playing?
Do you wait to go in until she's doing the all out "I need you mommy cry?"

She is till BF so not 100% on what she tajkes, has dropped a little I think as she used to always take both sides and at the 11 and 4 feeds she doesn't tend to stay on the 2nd side that long.
Yes she takes two naps, dropped the cat nap last week as she was super fussy at night going down and this has stopped she is straight out now without a peep. She sleeps probably 3.5 - 4 hours a day, usually 1.5 in morning as we have nursery run etc and let her sleep a little longer in the afternoon definately 2 hours but sometimes longer.
When she either wakes with I've lost my dummy moaning. Or she wakes up full pelt annoyed, if its the 1st, I try an leave her a while till she escalates, if I try and help her she spits it back at me. She will get more and more agitated and then I lift her she will calm and when I pop her down she starts playing and shouting/couging etc.
Do you think I am going in too early? It is so hard not to interfere at night when you think she is going to wake everyone else.

Do you think the paci is the problem?
If so, you may want to wean it in order to help her sleep through or teach her how to find it and put it back in.

That's what we did and we put about 6 paci's in her crib so that when dd woke she's be able to find them.
