How much awake time for 4 month old?
« on: September 09, 2008, 17:53:26 pm »
My DS is almost 4 months and I am just wondering how much A time he should be or might be needing right now.

I have him on  4 hour EASY and things have gone soooo much better since we moved from 3 hours to 4 hours... but trouble is he cant stay awake long enough in between feeds to then have a longer nap.

SO we sometimes end up in the vicous cycle of 45 mins awake 45 mins asleep in between feeds.

He is right now feeding at 7am, 11 am 2.45pm and 6.30pm so close to 4 hourly.  But though he has a long sleep between 12.30 pm and 2.30 pm the rest of the time he is awake for short bursts and asleep for cat naps.

Just wondering what I can expect in terms of awake time and sleep time on this kind of feeding schedule???

Thanks ahead of time for your help!

MOST and i use that word meaning NOT every baby.......

are around 2hrs A time.

It's possible your little guy just wants to have a big nap and some smaller ones.

Post your current routine so we can all take a better look.  If night time is good, you may not have the 'ideal' combo, but perhaps it is one that works.

I agree with Samijoe

My DS is on a 4 hr easy, has a two hour nap in the morning and two seperate hour long naps in the afternoon and sleeps solidly from 9pm - 6.30am

I am aware that this is not a complete 12 hour day nor as it says  naps should be in the book but he is very happy and we are getting there slowly,

He too had difficulty staying awake when we moved to 4hr easy, he can still only managed over an hour in the morning

your baby is almost 4 months old so as he gets older he will be able to stay awake longer and the naps may sort themselves!!!
