Yes, the canines. Ugh. Is it possible for a child to un-teethe? I swear last week all 4 were in. Today when he would.not.nap.at.all, I checked and sure enough there is one that seems to have retreated! No wonder sleep is wonky again and he has a runny nose and has his hand jammed into his mouth. Duh, you'd think after 2 months of this  I would've known!

Today he went down after 5 hours A and chatted for 10 mins which is something he rarely does, only when UT. Then it turned into crying so I began wi/wo. Well, after over an hour I gave up. I think he maybe slept 10 mins for his nap today! A record for him, at least since 1-2 months of age. I did take him for a car ride at 2 and I let him sleep for 45 mins so not to ruin bedtime. Fingers crossed for him to STTN and get caught up!

You're scaring me!  DS is beginning to teethe again.  He hasn't cut a new tooth in a long time and has rarely ever had a hard time, although lately he's been grumpier than normal!  I better stock up on motrin now!  :)

skatty-don't tell me that! The last 2 months have been brutal enough without having to go through it again!
Ok-so we have another problem. I think he has drastically stretched his wake time in the am. At daycare it is 6+ hours which usually results in a short nap. The last 2 days he has gone down at 5 hours A at home and yesterday wouldn't sleep and today has been in bed for over 35 mins and he is still not asleep. This never happens. If he is awake he is crying usually, not talking. Ever. He chatted off and  on for about 15 mins then was quiet now he is getting louder and louder and cranky, not crying but almost as if he is bored, ya know. It is 5 hours 40 mins A time. So what now? Do I go with the daycare's time of a 12:30 nap?
My routine has been:
6:30/7 wake
12-1:30 or 2 nap
7/7:30 bedtime

at daycare she has done  a 12:30  or 12:45 nap and not with great results. Usually the OT 45 minute nap or sometimes 1.25-1.5 hours so I moved his nap to 5 hours A and last week he was sleeping 2 hours. Now I am wondering if 5 is not enough as he is not OT anymore. We've had 11.5 hour nights or more due to poor naps with no NWs for almost 2 weeks except for one night this week so for sure he is well rested. Thoughts?

Sorry about that but once it has cut through it usually comes through within a week or two. As for the A time I would maybe try 5½ hours when he is home, this is our magic A time for a good nap when Leorah is well, the problem if they go down UT is they pass through to OT and can sometimes even skip their nap (we have been there a few months ago and it wasn't pretty  :P) Usually if L goes down UT she will get so wired that the only thing we can do is go for a drive to get some sort of nap and that isn't always possible.

Funny little monkeys! One day they are too OT and the next UT! Before this whole fiasco with teeth, our magic time was 5 hours 15 mins A time, then during it I did 5 or less and now I am thinking 5.5 might just do the trick. He did fall asleep at 12:33pm (just over 5 40A) after being in bed from 11:55am. It has been over 45 mins now so I can safely say that he will not have a super OT nap, may just have a  slightly OT nap of 1 hour 15 but I can live with that!

I think the 5.5 hour A time sounds like a great plan.  And, that is also AWESOME news! I am going to make a prediction: in 2-4 weeks, he's going to be able to make that 12:30 daycare nap with ease!  And, another month (hopefully) will have those teeth all the way in!

Stupid teeth. Yep, they totally go up and down.  Owen's 2 yr old molars have done that.  I thought we were done with molars back in Aug, but nope the last one is still trying to make it all the way out. GRRRRRR!  :P

So after all that he only slept 1 hour 20 but I will take it. I wanted to get him down by 7pm to compensate but we went to the fall fair with my brother and his girls and had them for supper after. He did go down at 7:30, cried for 3 mins then was out so I am hoping he is not too OT.

I am going to take your advice and go for a 5.5 hour A time because he is so predictable. If he cries at nap time he is OT, if he talks he is UT and if he goes straight to sleep he has the right A.

His last eye tooth looks so painful so I went back to the meds just to be sure.Ugh, just come through already!

I know what you mean about OT one day and UT the next, when L had her last ear infection she was having tiny A times of about 4½ hours and as soon as it cleared up she jumped straight to 5½ hours! I am at a loss with A times at the mo' as she had ear tunbes put in on Thursday and has been tired quickly still but is super active today so we are going fo our old 5½ hr A time, I'd rather risk an T nap than going down UT and skipping completely  :P I hope 5½ works for you  :)
