It Seems Like It Was OT, But Now What?!
« on: October 03, 2008, 16:53:59 pm »
My nearly 9 month old just went through a period where she was waking at 6:15, then 6:08, then 5:55 then 5:30 a.m. and THEN 4:30 a.m.!  Our wake time is 6:30.  She had been on three naps and when this first began I thought she needed to move to two naps.  I think I messed everything up by moving to quickly and drastically to two naps and I was also putting her to bed too late.  (I figured this out by reading other postings that said OT can show up slowly over time.)  With this in mind, I began putting her to bed at night much earlier the past few days and putting her down for naps sooner.  She has now begun sleeping from 6:15 p.m. to 6:30 a.m..  Yeah!  And her second nap of the day is two hours (or more).  However, I'm having some serious trouble still with nap number 1 and cannot figure out what is going on.  Yesterday, she yawned at 8:35 so I put her for her nap (I had been waiting until 9:30).  She went down fine, but was awake in an hour (not a long enough nap for two naps a day).  Today, I thought that maybe she could handle going down a bit later since she is getting 12+ hours at night.  So, I put her down at 9:00 (though she didn't seem tired yet, I think).  Again, she was awake within an hour.  I know that I should post my routine, but this is hard b/c we've been transitioning so much the past few days.  My "ideal" routine that I'm trying to get to is this:

6:30 wake (when she wakes early I don't allow her to begin the day at that time) - bottle

7:30 solids

9:15 nap

11:15 wake from nap and have bottle

12:30 solids

2:00 nap

4:00 wake from nap and have bottle

5:30 bottle

5:50 solids

6:00 bath and then bed by 6:15

Any ideas what I need to do now???  Up until this moment, we've followed Tracy's methods to a T and always been on a routine so she knows how to sleep etc.

Does she show any signs of being OT?  I ask because I just figured out that a 1 hr nap means OT for mine.  It sounds weird, but what happens with her is that she is too tired to just sleep the regular 30 min OT nap, so she wakes just a tad at 30 min and goes back to sleep for another 30 min.  I don't know.  Mine might be an anomale.  It might be helpful to post her most recent day or 2.
