Do you think he might be just trying out his voice?
If not, I know that my son was rarely interested in toys at that age. He WAS interested in whatever me or my husband had though. Maybe you can try to give him his own TV remote or other items that are the "real thing." (Somehow they know the difference between baby and grown up things, and prefer the grown up versions!)
Maybe you can sit him to look out the window or somewhere with something different to look at. From what I understand, the good thing about babes this age is that everything is interesting to them, so you don't have to worry too much about boredom.
