16 month old sleep problems again, please help
« on: October 27, 2008, 07:55:27 am »
HI

My ds has had a couple of bad teething nights (his 4 eye teeth coming through) were he wanted his dummy but couldnt keep it in his mouth due to sore gums and stuffy nose, he would wake every hour or so crying for his dummy and in pain.

He is nearly over it now but is still waking and coughing (sometimes on pupose) although not as much. Also the clocks going back he woke 5.20am this morn, chucked his dummy out the cot a few times (i hear it on the wooden floor) and i think he went back off till 6.05  :(

He is also doing this dreadful droning noise (both in his sleep and when he wakes) which is driving me crazy!!!

Do i have a problem or will he settle again?

Please help

TIA

Ok so ds is now waking on the hour nearly from when he falls asleep and wont always go back off, just lies there crying until he wakes himself completely  ???

I am ashamed to admit  :-[ I am starting to lose my rag as I am constantly up and down the stairs, sometimes in vain then have OT by bedtime. I cant give him a nice early bedtime unless he is ill as his mornings get earlier too then we go out of routine

Any ideas very very welcome

Those eye teeth are the worst - For Colin they caused the most pain, even more than molars. I think you're doing fine, just do what you have to do until those suckers come through!

Thanks

Always good to know there is support here at BW

Well, I gave him some calpol before bed and some teething gel and he was suitably tired and ready for sleep at 7.00pm.
I put him down and he was quiet for 5mins then started crying... this went on and off for about 1 hr and he is currently asleep. I am wondering if there is something else going on besides the eye teeth (i counted 3 definately trying to break through!! ??? ) as id give him his pain meds and he didnt seem OT. Have I become a prop by going up to him when he cries? How do i change this waking all the time?

Really wish I could figure this out......... :(

Hugs- teething is the worst!
I recently went through something similar w/Nick... turns out he had an ear infection as well as teething- just a thought.
Hope you get some rest soon.

Well.....

DS slept through from 8.40 (last time we heard him whining) until about 6.20am  ;D  Stil not enough straight sleep but he is in a better mood and played quietly in his cot for 1/2 h ;Dr, hopefully he is settling back into our old routine, will keep this posted

p.s I feel better having slept through myself  ;D

I've had this problem with my 15mnth old. He was getting all 4 molars at the same time and one night was up from 9pm until 3am crying. It was awful. I just want to send you hugs because I sure know that I needed them last week. After reading the other girls posts about the eye teeth I'm so worried they will be worse then the molars....Glad to hear he's starting to sleep better for you!Tracey

Thanks Tracey, hugs to you too  :-*

TBH ds never really had a prob with his 1st set of molars but these eye teeth are buggers!!!
2 of them are on the verge of breaking and the other 2 are still pushing the gum, its awful isnt it as you try to have patience but it can really get to you, then the guilt etc  :-[ I always feel guilty and end up giving ds a cuddle or stroke his head etc as deep down I know he cant help it, good luck with yr ds let us know how you get on

p.s another good sleep night is what im hoping for lol pleeeeaaaasssseeee
