Distraction is a fabulous pain relieving tool honestly.  For what its worth anyhow :-*

I remember Iris only nursing if I was walking around with her, and I'm sure I must have nursed while bouncing on the exercise ball (though I think that was in the middle of the night trying to get her to go back to sleep already  ::) ).  Could be that the distraction distracts her from any pain she's having, or it finally gets her to stop her resistance pattern and eat already.  I know I had to use distraction as a tool with Iris a lot in the early months.

{{{HUGS}}} to you.

So, here's the update...Had a drs apptmnt yesterday, and dd is up to 11 lbs 7 oz :o.  She was 7 lbs 3 oz at birth.  So that's good.  But, I still have concerns--the past few days, she decided she did not want to eat at all at night (though she still wakes up), and she will really not take a good feed after 5 pm.  That is a looooooong time for a 2 month old to go!  When she first started doing that, my beasts had tons of milk, cause she wasn't removing it, I guess.  Then, yesterday AM, I woke up and my boobs felt totally empty.  Very flat.  She had a bunch of shots yesterday and today is not eating well at all---I am freaking out about my supply, cause surely she will eventually want to eat more than this!!!!  I've been pumping some today (can get noticeably less than when I've pumped before, tho I know that can vary...), and increased my fenugreek yesterday.  does this seem reasonable?  I'm afraid if I wait till her appetite picks back up on her own, my milk supply will be too far gone.  Dr says she is perfectly healthy--maybe just needs a little bit to sustain her????  still having those crying jags at night, dr said that's very common, and even if she's reflux-y, they wouldn't really want to put her on meds cause she seems to be thriving.  So.....

Jen, so sorry your having such a hard time. I don't really have much advice to help you out but wanted to send hugs to you. I remember having so many questions when BFing A and reflux was such a pain, I had to insist on getting a  US to confirm reflux and get meds since he was thriving but in so much pain.

BIg hugs this a great place to get great advice and I think some of the ladies here are doing a faboulous job.

{{hugs}} hun.  I'd keep offering & then trying to pump if she doesn't take a feed or not much of one.  Also, there are 2 things that start to happen about this age (well, they're related).  Your body has started getting used to how much dd needs, so doesn't make as much extra.  Also, you may start to lose that "full" sensation.  That does NOT mean that you don't have anything; what you sense is just different.  The "not as much extra" bit can show up in pumping decrease, but do remember that pumping only tells you how well you respond to a pump, not how much supply you have.  :-*

Thanks! I did know that, but it's just odd for me because with ds, I was so engorged all of the time that I never had to worry about my supply, so it makes me so nervous that this is so different! :)

Jen--breastfeeding this second time, my breasts get that flat, not-feeling feeling much more quickly.  Like if DD's been eating at a certain time at night and sleeps through it, the first time she sleeps through it, I'm really full.  The 2nd night she sleeps through it, I feel totally flat and empty.  My body just adjust supply very quickly to demand--something that didn't happen with J until he was 9 monhts are so, but started happening with her at 2 weeks or so.
