baby used to sleep all night, now wakes up crying
« on: November 25, 2008, 02:11:01 am »
My baby, he is a text book baby, according to Tracy. Sleeps alone in his room since 3 months old and used to sleep all night. Now hes seven months old, he wakes up at 11pm and 3am, crawling in his crib and tries to stand up, he also rubs his eyes and wines.
I'm concerned, because he has very normal days, with two naps a day, he is very active and eats well.
What can i do, to help him sleep through the night with out waking up?, could it be that his days are to active?
My routine is: baby wakes up at 5 - 6 am, he eats bottle milk every 4 hours, soup at lunch time, and around 5 pm, and two small fruit snacks, has 1 hour nap in the morning an 1 hour nap in the afternoon, at 6 - 7 he takes his bath the last bottle milk and goes to sleep.
Thank you for your help!

Hi- could it be that he is working on new motor skills and is waking to practice? We had this with our LO- he wanted to walk and stand in the worst way!
Also, is he getting only 2 hours total of daytime sleep? You may consider giving him a longer nap if he'll do it.

I would definitely try longer naps, and if he won't do it, go for an earlier bedtime, like 6 if he wakes at 5-6 am.  You might try moving it in 10 or 15 minute increments every couple of days.  I know it sounds contradictory, but really, the more they sleep, the more they sleep!  I swear I'm not crazy! ;D  I've found with my lo's that too much/too little sleep is cumulative, and even though he hasn't had any problems so far, the more tired he is over time, the more sleep probs you might see with "no" explanation.  He may be getting enough to get by, but it may be catching up with him now.  Also, he may have been getting enough sleep before, but his milestones may require a bit more rest, as they require a bit more energy during awake times, kwim?  HTH! ;D

Hey there and welcome!
So your LO is getting 1 hrs of daysleep? I am guessing he may be a little overtired (OT) and you might want to work on extending those naps a bit.
How does he go to sleep?
The rolling standing etc is pretty typical of Los 'practising' new skills that they learn so it could be linked to developmental issues which unfortunately, other than allow him to practice LOTS in the daytime, you kinda have to ride out!
