I am refering to Libby's brand Original Vienna Sausage's.

According to the ingredient list, nothing jumped out as milk or soy.

Tyler ate 2 cans of them at my mom's house tonight and has had major gas and has been up crying several times.  Also his face looks awful again.

Anyone had any experience with any type of reaction from these?

It could also be the chicken in them.  It seems like everytime he has chicken he gets really fussy, but could also have been that way before we started the No milk no Soy

He is asleep finally now, but I can tell his belly hurts bad :(

I found on a website that it is free of Dairy and Soy, it's on the Safe List for Dairy and Soy. However I saw on the walmart website it says it does contain sugar, less than 2%, but does contain sugar.

And it says it contains "flavoring".
This is from the Kids With Food Allergies:::

Natural flavoring can contain food allergens

March, 2006

Natural flavoring is a "catch all" term used on food labels and merits special scrutiny for those of us reading labels for a food allergic child.

According to the current U.S. F.D.A. food labeling regulations,

"The term natural flavor or natural flavoring means the essential oil, oleoresin, essence or extractive, protein hydrolysate, distillate, or any product of roasting, heating or enzymolysis, which contains the flavoring constituents derived from a spice, fruit or fruit juice, vegetable or vegetable juice, edible yeast, herb, bark, bud, root, leaf or similar plant material, meat, seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy products, or fermentation products thereof, whose significant function in food is flavoring rather than nutritional."

The new labeling law effective in 2006, The Food Allergen Labeling and Consumer Protection Act (FALCPA), requires manufacturers to declare if one or more of the 8 major food allergens are contained in a natural flavoring. The top 8 major food allergens are defined as: milk, egg, fish, crustacean shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, peanuts and soybeans.

If you are managing food allergies other than the top 8 major food allergens, however, the new law will not be of assistance to you in identifying the sources in any natural flavoring stated on a label.

In conclusion:

    * Natural flavoring can be derived from just about anything made from a natural source! Major allergens like peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, milk, soy, wheat, fish and seafood can hide in natural flavorings as can countless other food-derived flavorings derived from other "natural" sources.

    * New product labeling after 2006 will help with products that contain natural flavoring derived from the top 8 major allergens, but some old packages may still be on the shelves from 2005 and will not contain the updated labeling requirements.

    * For allergens other than the top 8 major food allergens, don’t make any assumptions about the safety of natural flavoring; be sure to check with the manufacturer to be sure it is safe for your child’s unique allergy issues.

 :-*  Thanks!!!

I am suspecting the chicken to be honest now....  I was "kinda" joking with my DH a
about a week ago and said "You know it always seems like whenever I give him chicken nuggets, he has an AWFUL fussy day, maybe it is the greece they used to fry the french fries in", since he can't have potato's.

So NO CHICKEN for us.  I will re-trail just a plain chicken breast in a few weeks and see.

Thanks for the great info.

A lot of feed animals are fed soy, so if he's really sensitive to it, that might be part of it too. :( Also, it seems that people with Type B blood are sensitive to chicken; if DH eats more than a bite or two, he gets major intestinal symptoms. Took us AGES to figure that out!

Free-range meat usually doesn't get fed soy, if my memory serves.

Interesting.

He is type 0 blood.  Him and my DH are exactly the same 0-

So they are supposed to have meat and digest it great, but also have a very high acid content.  Holds true, because DH and Tyler both have reflux really bad.

I am not sure what Zach is yet, he want let me prick his ear or finger to test him.

I only know about A's and B's since that's what we are here; the book Eat Right 4 Your Type would have the lists of foods that are preferred and those to avoid for each blood type and we lent out our copy. :(

B's are supposed to have lots of meat too, but mostly red meat. DH is OK with turkey, but not with chicken; I'm supposed to go easy on red meat but chicken is OK for me. *sigh* We either make turkey, salmon, or more than  one kind of meat a bunch of the time.

We did Josie's blood type in a home test when she was maybe 2; she was fascinated with the process of the finger prick and the drop of blood on the Eldon card. We can't get our docs to test the kids, even though we offered to pay for it ::), so when we decide to find out what Nat got, we'll have to go to  a lab or order our own, probably from the Blood Type Diet site (http://www.dadamo.com).

That is where I got our test from and did them myself.  I even tried to prick Zach's ear and foot in his sleep, but no luck.  It was kinda funny actually, he thought something was biting him :-0

I had that book, I borrowed from the library.  I read through it briefly, but then DH sent me a link from the internet saying it was a bunch of crap and no proof behind it.

I just find it funny that O's are meat eaters mainly, no dairy, grain etc. and Tyler was an O.  He always has loved meat, can't handle dairy and oats really upset him.

There is plenty of anecdotal evidence on both sides of the Blood Type Diet. I know that when we avoid the stuff those lists say to avoid, and purposely seek out the "preferred" foods for our types, we feel better, plus I lost 5 pounds without breaking a sweat, so that's enough for me. :D
