tummy sleeping scare
« on: November 29, 2008, 16:35:06 pm »
my son is a rolling on his stomach all the time.During his play time on his mat all he does is roll on his tummy and this morning we found him face down in his crib and we almost had heart attacks!!!! In his crib at sleep time he rolls over constantly and has discovered how to roll out of his sleeping wedge pillow!!! this kid is amazing but i don't like the face down sleeping at all.Is it ok for him to be asleep face down and is there a bigger baby wedge or device i should use to stop him from rolling? Is sleeping on his tum tum ok? What's the deal?

Usually once they start rolling it's ok to let them sleep how they like. Can he roll front to back? How old is he?

he is 6 months old and he has rarely rolled from his tummy to his back. He can roll over from back to tummy no problem

He can lift/hold his head well?

I'd say he was ok then.  :)

Yes, he can lift and hold his head.  Thanks for the reassurance.  Usually he gets upset when he rolls himself over- and we go in and flip him...but last night he didn't make a sound...I guess he is just ready for it.
Thanks again!!

Chillax....if he can get himself there its fine. SIDS rate dramatically decreases after 6 months anyway. Well done to your little roller!  :D
