What age does later bedtime = later wake up?

Dd has always been an early waker, and always had a bedtime of 6.30pm. Over the summer, she started to go to bed at 7pm and would sleep until 7am. This was great, as 7am is a mega lie-in for us after 3 years of 5am! However, we have reverted to the early wake-ups now, although it is around 5.30am so could be worse. She is absolutely exhausted all of the time. By the time she gets home from school, she is ready for bed. We have tried reverting to the 6.30pm bedtime, and tried a 7.30pm bedtime, but neither made a difference. She doesn't wake us up in the morning, just plays until she decides she's STARVING  ::) (Usually about 6.30am) but I can hear her, so I'm awake anyway. Bless ds, he sleeps untilI wake him at 7am usually. Have I got to wait until she turns into a teenager to have a lie in again?  :P :P :P

Hopefully not!! Sorry, no advice or words of wisdom. Our LO is just a couple of months younger than yours and she only sometimes has a lie in if she has a 'late night' (by lie-in, I mean until about 8am, instead of her usual 7.15am wake up). Once in her life she slept till 10am when we were travelling for a holiday. Luckily for us, she is not an early waker in general, although we still have NWs for cuddles (bless).

My SIL said her LO started to have 'proper' lie-ins and adjust her sleeping times more effectively when she turned about 4 or 4.5.

lol - last New Year, we went to a party at a friends house. dd was dancing until 3AM (I know, bad mummy! We were waiting for her to get tired, but I needed my bed first.) dd woke up at 7am ready for the day! I did convince her to go back to sleep in our bed, which lasted until 9am.I think we've managed 8am twice, both with late nights. I would love a 7.15am wake-up!  ;D ;)

Fingers crossed for another year then.  :P :-*

No, she hasn't had a nap for almost a year. She's at school now too.

We find with our DS, that later bedtime = early wake up times, and early bedtimes = later wake up times.

He has always been like this.  No adivce hun, just wanted to drop off some hugs.

That always used to work here too, but has seemed to have stopped working recently.  :-\

Alibobs - personally, I think you are a great mum for letting your LO stay up till 3am dancing at New Year - she has the whole of the rest of the year to catch up on her sleep and being 'allowed' to do something that is not the norm will create fabulous memories for her to look back on in years to come.

Yeah, fingers crossed for another year! lol!
