HELP My son won't nap during the day!!!!
« on: December 29, 2008, 14:43:16 pm »
Hi Everyone,
I have a 3 weke old son who WON'T nap during the day unless I take him for a walk or he goes in the car. He wakes up at 7:30-8:00 has 6 oz of formula and then will be awake and fuss until his next feeding at 11 ish. If I'm lucky he'll go down after that feed...but usually I get nothing from him. Yesterday he napped for about 3 hours and that's only because we were in the car for the afternoon...please I need help!

Hi, just a thought (and please don't take offence as I don't mean any) but 6 oz seems a lot for a 3 week old and I wondered whether wind/colic might be an issue here?  If he is in discomfort then this would stop him settling...

I thought that 6 oz seemed like a lot too, but he will take 4 oz and still suck on his fist or his clothing, acting like he's still hungry. No offence taken

Loads of hugs for mommy!!!!

My DD did not sleep well the first 6 weeks either.  I still don't know what was going on, or what changed.  6 oz. may be to much... I too over feed DD in the early weeks because she was crying so much.  I later found out that she had reflux and the more I fed her the more uncomfortable she was.  Does he take a paci?  Maybe the sucking could be a soothing thing for him?  Not much on the sleep advice, but I did want to offer some hugs!!!
