I delayed starting solids with my DD2 until 7.5 months, and we really took things slow. She is a refluxer and I had a strong suspicion that solids were not going to be a walk in the park. I was right, it was terrible. All the cereals made her reflux worse, she had a reaction to rice cereal, she ate very little and arched through every meal. We generally were both in tears every meal time. Our paed at the time was not willing to change her meds from Zantac and told me that since Hayden was only in the 25th percentile that I needed her to gain weight and push the solids. Things only changed for us after I finally got referred to another paed who immediately put Hayden on Prevacid at 11 months, and we haven't looked back. She'll eat anything and everything and has no reflux issues at all (still on meds).
I think I recall your username from the reflux board, so if your LO is suffering with reflux, there's no need to push solids at this point, or even when she reaches 6 months adjusted. Lots of refluxers have issues with solids, and can develop food aversions from the pain and discomfort they feel from eating. I was told by the infant development specialists that saw Hayden that as long as she was getting some solid food by 8 months and could handle a meal by 12 months that she would be fine.
I'm not an infant development specialist (obviously), but I just thought I'd share my experience so you wouldn't feel bad about starting your LO when it's already a battle anyways and there are lots of good reasons to delay.
