any suggestions for making this transition easier? She bit a hole in the paci on Saturday and I cut the tip off and said that was it. Well today is the first day she napped since then. Bedtime has been hard, last night she cried for almost an hour. I'm ready to give the paci back to her, but my husband said we've gone this long already. This is BAD. I'm afraid the naps will go without the paci (she has been fighting naps for months now and only naps 3-4 times per week already). What have you done when getting rid of this thing???

Gosh, no answers really, but I just wanted to encourage you and offer a hug...
If she's only crying an hour , that's not too bad given how old she is. I weaned my LO off his at 6months and he cried 1.5 hours while my heart broke. But after 3 nights he didn't cry anymore. After 2 weeks he found a paci under a chair and didn't even want it.  I know it's hard, but sounds like you are off to an Ok start.... hugs.. hoping someone else has good advice...

Julie, we also got rid of Colin's paci when he was about 2.5 YO. :)  It was the best thing ever and I wish we had done it sooner. The process started when he chewed a hole in one, and we told him that it was garbage now and there were no more other than the other couple he had.

Long story short, before long they were all gone and he was surprisingly ok with it. What saved us I think was that he was old enough that we could talk about it, KWIM?

Thanks everyone! Things are getting better already, but still no nap today. Yesterday she did b/c she had pre-school. What time does your 2.5 yr old nap these days? Trying to figure out if something is wrong with her schedule.

Colin's nearly 3.5 but since about 2.5 he does best if he goes down for his nap around 1:00pm, or 12:30 if he didn't have a great night.
