What next?
« on: January 14, 2009, 13:13:22 pm »
Hi there

Been a long time since I posted on this board but we are now approaching 12months and I am starting to think about the next stage.

Here is where we are at the moment:

Wake at 7ish, bed at 7pm, sttn, naps well during the day (2 naps, 1 at 10/10.30ish for 1hr and another at 3ish for 1hr-1.5hrs - tends to wake herself from first nap but have to wake her from 2nd). Eats very well, 3 very good meals. 3 bottles (morning, afternoon and night).

So, she can now go for about 2.5-3hrs A time in the morning, 3-4hrs during the day and then about 2.5-3hrs in the evening before bed.

As her A time abilities increase where do I go from there with the naps as it tends to just eat into the nap time? Do I extend the day longer? Or go with shorter naps?
Am so confused as to what to do next!  ???

Thanks

x

Time flies doesnt it?

What generally happens as their A time increases.  Most mums do a shorter morning nap, and followed by a longer afternoon nap.  This is generally when the 2 to 1 transition comes into play.

A lot of mums end up shortening the first nap to 20 mins after gradually reducing the time of the nap as their A time increases etc, and then when they are on a 20 minute nap, their A time is considerably shorter, and generally aim for about 2 hours A time and a second nap from about 2pm for 2 hours.

Or it can happen like my DD did, where she just increased her A time all of a sudden, and refused to go down for her AM nap, and switched straight to 1 nap :o

Let your lo guide you.  You want to try and stay on 2 naps for as long as possible, so that you can avoid your lo getting OT.

Hope this helps :-*
