could my 18mnth old suddenly be lactose intolerant??
« on: January 25, 2009, 04:56:45 am »
I'm at my whits end. My beautiful baby boy has been sick for over a mnth now and we dont know what it is, and how to make him better. I recently was reading a great book called the natural way of healing for infants toddlers. and from what I've read and his symptoms I think he may have a food allergy.
He went from sleeping thru to waking 3-4 times a night. Its been since xmas day and were exhausted.
So, here are his symptoms and tell me what you think....
waking in the night, Diarhea, stuffy nose, swollen glands, swollen tonsils, mild excema, Bad gas, flatulence, raspy breathing, bad breath.
I took him to the dr and they took a swab of his throat. I get the results on mon but in the mean time they prescribed eyrithromyicin(sp?) They said his glands were swollen and his throat was red. Then I came home and have had several friends tell me how hard it is on there tummys etc. So, we didnt give him any. Instead I'm waiting for the results first. During the day he's happy, has energy. He does have some diarhea. It seems at night that his symptoms get worse. And he does have a bottle before bed. He's on second stage formula and we have been slowely trying to integrate him onto homo milk. I've since stopped that.
So, if he does have a lactose intolerance how do I know for sure? What would I replace his bottles with? soy? I want to try to cut out all dairy for a week to see if his symptoms get better.
Help, I want my healthy baby back......Tracey

Before I suggest anything I was wondering if you got the test results back?  What kind of formula do you currently use and how long have you been using it?  How long ago have you stopped the homo milk?  Is he doing any better?
