Pasta
« on: February 05, 2009, 21:36:47 pm »
Hello ladies,

Was just wondering if Pasta could be constipating.

DD just loves her pasta type meals and probably would have it about 4-5 times a week, along with a very varied diet.

But over the past week, she has been quite constipated, and was just wondering if you thought that the pasta could be constipating her?

Hm I'm not sure but I think if there is any kind of wheat/gluten sensitivity that can cause digestive problems including gas and constipation.

Hopefully someone else will have some more helpful advice ;)

It could do.... please bear in mind that this is just my own rambling and thoughts here.

You know when you leave pasta in the water it swells up loads and absorbs more liquid?  could that happen in the digestive system, pasta absorbs more fluids and leads to constipation?

Just rambling.

regular pasta doesn't have a lot of fiber, so I'm wondering if it does work similarly to rice - which is constipating....we generally stick to whole wheat pasta, and I've not had any problems with dd.

We eat whole wheat pasta and it does help a lot with your "transit"

As you become more clear about who you really are, you'll be better able to decide what is best for you - the first time around

Thanks ladies.

Alex, your post makes a lot of sense.

Will definitely give the whole wheat pasta a try and see if DD likes it.

In the mean time we have been giving lactulose, and that helps make things easier for her.
