New with nap Question
« on: February 10, 2009, 13:09:07 pm »
Hi I'm new to the site and joined because of nap problems.  We have a 1 month old son, and he will not nap anywhere but in a sling carrier.  I have him on a 2.5 easy routine right now, but naps are a mess.  He sleeps swaddled in his crib at night, but if I try to swaddle him and put him in his crib for naps he screams.
Any ideas on how to get him to nap in his crib?  Is it too early to expect this of him?

Hi and welcome to BW community!!
Don't worry, your LO is still very very young, so you will need to teach him independent sleep! You can try using shpat which is a great tool; here's a link with a great explanation on how it works.

The goal is to have you LO nap on his crib, but it is a process, so don't expect it to work the first time you try it.  Remember to be consistent and try to put him to sleep on his crib for all his naps.
Also, here's a link with the amounts of awake time LOs can handle.

Is your LO on EASY?? Have you read any BW books?

Thanks for the info!  I did EASY with my first son and it worked great, but it is like being new at it since this LO is a touchy baby and my first son was a textbook baby.
I am so happy I found this site!!  I love all the info!
