Dropping the dreamfeed cold turkey?
« on: February 16, 2009, 17:35:20 pm »
Just a quick question, someone's waking up!

Anyone ever drop the DF cold turkey? Spencer is taking in about 32 oz during her 4 daytime feeds and has 2 meals of solids (about 4 tbsp total), and is down to taking only a few oz of her DF.....she usually stirs a little and wakes briefly when I go in her room, but the last few nights she's been out cold, which makes me wonder if I could just skip it. (and she's sleeping in too...I had to wake her up most days this past week!) She dropped all of her nightfeeds on her own just by eventually sleeping through them, too.

TIA
Heidi

We dropped it cold turkey, Stan was a bit older but similar situation he was taking less and not waking for it. He did wake up for a couple of nights but we resettled without feeding and then that was that!

we went cold turkey too...but at 10 mths (woops). I was BF though but the DF was EBM in a bottle.

good luck!

The funny thing is, Heidi, I will NOT do the DF for the first time tonight....I have been bfing and then topping up with an oz or two of EBM. Tonight, DH has 5oz waiting in the fridge...I am away to bed for the first night of sleep 9 to (finger crossed) 4am!

good luck!

Thanks!

I was going to skip it last night, but just couldn't quite do it  ;D . If all goes well today I will cross my fingers and go to bed early for the first time in months!!! ah, sleep....Shivi, I sure wish my DH didn't work at 6:00am or I would have made the DF his job ages ago...I hope you have a lovely sleep!

my DH doesn't get out of bed till 8am by which time I have O ready for preschool and Emma almost back down for first nap! So, I don't feel guilty at all!!!

8 am? I wish....I now consider 6:30/7:00 sleeping in!!! (DH has not yet realized that as Spencer is totally bottle fed that he could get up with her on the weekend  :P ) But I am hoping that dropping the DF will be sucessful so I can tuck in earlier to start making up for the last 6 months of sleep deprivation!

So last night I finally skipped the DF and.....she slept all night long! I think it was more a matter of weaning myself off (she takes sippy cups in the day now, that was her last bottle) My baby is growing up.....
