Daylight Savings Time...????? Coming up soon!
« on: February 17, 2009, 16:00:05 pm »
My LO is 16 months and we are on 1 nap.  Our routine is this.

6:30ish up
12:30ish nap 1.5 - 2hrs
7ish bedtime

How do we handle it?

Will his routine look something like this

7:30ish up
1:30ish nap
8ish bed

And if so will it ever straighten out and go back to the original routine?  Just wondering

Jann

Hey- I'm excited for the later wakeup, myself! LOL to sleep until 7:30 AM would be bliss!
But, yeah, I do think you can gradually do an earlier wakeup if you want to! 15 mins each day or so to slowly adjust.

Cathie,  could you elaborate on the 15 min earlier thing....or maybe how DST and routines work?  I have no idea.

Yes March 8th it is.....and I just got my LO on a great routine about 1 week ago.

thanks

Personally, I'm not worried about this one.  Enfys tends to be an early bird anyway so it is very easy for her to move her day forward ::)  The autumn is a different story!

You can either move an hour later by not actually changing anything or you can wake your lo up a few minutes earlier each day until they are waking the "right" time on the "new" time.

Why do we have daylight savings still????? I think we're the only county to have it! Its daft!

I worked with the last clock change in autumn by starting one week before, with fifteen minute increments every couple of days to build up.

Remember everyone, UK and US changes at different times. Just to confuse us all. Change the last Saturday in March here (UK)

Jann- Goldie said what I was going to about the 15 mins earlier each day. If your LO is waking at 8:30 and you want a 7:30 wake up, you'd wake them at 8:15 one day, 8:00 the next, 7:45 the next till 7:30 is the natural wake time again.
TBH, I've never had this problem as Nick wakes at 6-6:30 like clockwork.

Hi all. Instead of waking your LO earlier each day, can you put them to bed earlier each night instead? This will also work - right?
