Hi
I don't know all the medical details but a friend of mines DD (3) has recently had an opp to fix her tummy. In basic terms her tummy wasn't strong enough for her to keep anything down, causing her to vomit most food back up. This led to her not likeing/being able to eat solid foods. The opp was succesful, it somehow involved wrapping her stomack around itself making it tighter so she can hold food down. But the upshot of being sick after eating solids for her 3yrs of life has left her scared to eat solids or anything much more than baby pureed food. She really doesn't like food at all. Now although she isn't being sick when she tries something remotely solid and we are talking tiny little bites she is reaching because its in her head, she still thinks it will make her sick.
They have got an appointment at St Ormand Street soon to speak to the experts on how to encourage her to develop a healthy attitude towards food and encourage her to try eating solids but I just wondered if anyone new of a website which may offer some more advice. All I could think of was to start encouraging her to help prepare food, anything at all, from putting cereal in her own bowl and puring the milk on herself to spreading some bread with butter etc as all kids seem to eat better when they have played some part in making the food, it stimulates that interest in what they are going to eat.
I just figure when dealing with something like this you can't really get enough help and advice. My friend is desperate that she doesn't want her DD to be emotionally scarred about food for the rest of her life.
