amount/type of solids
« on: March 09, 2009, 18:26:34 pm »
Just wanted to check and see what you all thought about the amount of solids my lo is getting on a daily basis.  He is just over 7 months and he is BF in the morning and at night, but gets 2 bottles of formula (6 oz) during the day.  Right now, his feedings look like this:

6:30 BF
7:00 solids - 2T oatmeal, 1T fruit
11:30 6 oz. bottle
12:00 2T veggie, 2T fruit
3:30/4:00 6 oz. bottle
5:00 4T veggie
6:15/6:30 BF

Today, after he had his lunch, he started crying as soon as I got up from the table, so I gave him another Tablespoon of veggies and he seemed content.  Does it seem like he is getting the appropriate amounts of everything?

Also, when do they move from Stage 1 baby foods to Stage 2?

Hi,

Spencer is just over 7 months too and she normally has 3 - 8oz feeds and 1 4 or 5 oz feed (all formula). She has 3 meals a day of about 4 or 5 tbsp. I'm guessing that if he cries for more and then is satisfied with the extra tbsp that he is getting what he needs and knows how to ask for more if he needs it. Not sure about the stage 2 foods, we kind of skipped right over that our first and did a semi BLW approach with mixing pasta/chopped meat and babyfood as sauce for her to self feed.
