Does this sound ok?
« on: March 17, 2009, 15:12:42 pm »
My LO is about to turn 10months. He is a big boy (28lbs) tall like his daddy (who is 6ft 4). I find the Hv's here in the UK really patronising and they can never make their minds up whether he is eating right or over/under eating, and we keep getting told different things and wrong information. This is what my LO has in a day:

Beaker 4oz milk, Breakfast (Cereal with just enough milk to make it soggy, not runny. Prob about 2/3tbsps cereal.)
Snack (Rusk, Homemade Rusk or something else small)
Beaker 4oz milk, Lunch (Normally cut up sandwich with marmite mmm, just the middle bit, no crusts)
Beaker water, Dinner (Cooked veg, meat etc. Or scrambled egg with meat in, just so you can guess portion size!)

Does this sound ok for his age?

Everyone gives different advice and I am sure I won't be any different, however, this is the typical meal plan I followed in my book when weaning Ryan.

Breakfast - Cereal with banana as finger food, cup of Formula
Lunch - dinner type meal with yogurt for pud, and perhaps something likefruit as finger food. Water
Dinner - Lighter than lunch like scrambled eggs on toast with finger food, Cup of formula Veg sticks.

So looking at this and what you have typed out seems almost the same so I would say yeah it OK!!!!

Ah thanks. I never know whether to believe what HV's say. When my lo was on just formula, we went and got told we were over feeding him and to give him less, then we saw someone different the next time and they said we were under feeding him even before we reduced it! it's ridiculous. x

I rarely asked them questions to be honest, just the odd query, I preferred to listen to my own instincts plus I knew they would all say something different! Hugs you are doing great!
