re: 23 month old - bribing for naps

My 23 month old would rather play in her room than nap...
Up at 8:30am, put down anywhere between 1:30-2:30 as I've been trying different times to see if we can figure things out.
Sleeps for 1.5-2hrs when she falls asleep but I go in there regularly to remind her to go to sleep and put her back in her bed.
She's often on the floor, talking, singing, rolling around...
Goes to bed at 9pm, falls asleep around 9:30.
We're good with the bedtime and wake time...just can't figure out nap time, any suggestions?

Hi there! :)

By the sound of things your LO is in a BGB. Is it a recent transition? My DD had a period after about 1 month in here BGB where she realised she could get out and play, and so would take ages to fall asleep for naps and sometimes bedtime too.
How many hrs in total in 24 does she usually sleep? Has she always been an 'average' sleeper, needing average amounts of sleep? It could be that she needs longer A time. My DD needs 6 hrs to take a good long nap usually, but of course that's different for all kids. It could also be an OT issue, but hard to tell without more info.
Does she ever skip a nap or does she always go to sleep eventually?

She has generally been average for sleep.  Sleeps 11-11.5 hours at night and 1.5-2 hours in the day right now.
The BGB has been for a while now - we've had off and on times where she will stay in the bed or at least go back into it shortly after we put her to bed...but lately it's getting worse.  She always sleeps eventually - after I've gone in there a few times and after playing for upto 1.5 hours in there.... that's what I'm finding, can't pin point if it's UT or OT... any suggests to figuring this out?  I've moved it around a bit to experiment.
That's why I'm at the point of rewards for staying in bed cause I think she may fall asleep faster if she's not "playing."

I really am leaning on UT...but it seems like she's been awake forever!  Maybe I need to cut down her nap time? or something???

Well, I decided to go without today after she played for about 1 hour in her room again.  She's been really whiny after her naps lately, but is playing extremely well right now...
I've heard the odd circumstance where a child has dropped their nap by now...but I can't imagine we're there...are we???

Hoping this isn't the case for you but my friend's 22 mth old has been skipping naps for ages and now only takes a nap once or twice a week!  It is awful but it looks like it is permanent for them, tho she keeps putting her down for quiet time every day.

On the other hand, I actually thought that was happening to my  child from 19-21 mths, she napped for maybe 25 min and now is back at it for the last month or so (she is 22 mths now).  And sleeping like a champ for 1.5 hrs and 12 at night so there is hope.

We are in the same boat over here. We transitioned to BGB because she was climbing out of her crib - and now it takes forever for her to go to sleep for naps and bedtime. She has skipped a few naps here and there, but I'm holding on to hope that it will pass and she'll go back to napping 1.5-2 hours every day. She definitely still needs it.
