« on: May 06, 2009, 06:49:49 am »
My ds is 8 days old and every time he is tired and ready to go to sleep its taking me over an hour of rocking etc until he finally falls asleep. he will look like hes falling asleep or even really fall asleep and then wake up and then we have to start again. we are swaddling him. i don't know what to do but i'm getting very frustrating by how long it takes.
any advice??

Hi Henna20 :) congratulations on your little boy!! So exciting :) :) :)
I dont know how much help I can be. The only thing I can think of is, could your lo be overtired? At this age the A time should really only be eating, a diaper change, state at mom for a few minutes and then back to sleep. If los are ot it will take them longer to settle for sleep. A moderator should be along soon and they are a huge help! You'll get great advice here!
Good luck!

Hi Henna

Don't worry about feeling frustrated, that's normal !!  I have to agree with Vikki.  My LO is nine weeks now but at 8 days it was up at 7ish feed, dressed and back to sleep about 8.  How long is he awake after a feed ?

Its very early days yet, you're only working towards a routine at the moment, none of mine got into a real routine till 4 months.
