My LO used to have between 2-4oz (usually nearer the 4oz) every 3 hours.  We did not start EASY until she was 6 weeks but noticed that she was hungry every 3 hours anyway.  When we started EASY, we fed every 3 hours between 7am and 10.30pm (dreamfeed) and then usually just once during the night.  We fed every 3 hours even if she was not acting hungry so that she would take most of her required calories during the day so not wake up as often at night.  Are you using the EASY routine?

Hope that helps.

Hi ya-

Are you BF or Formula?

I was advised by Health Visitors that rule of thumb is take babies weight and half it - so say baby is 8lbs = 4oz per feed.

Kellys Mom site has a calculator for BF babies if you want to give a bottle as it does depend on how many feeds a day. http://www.kellymom.com/bf/pumping/milkcalc.html

Hope this helps

No she is Formula, we are not doing the EASY as she is in a routine anyway, she wakes at 7.30 AM and I change her nappy and dress her, she has a bottle at 8AM then she sleeps til 12 then she has a feed at 4PM sleeps til 6.30 PM when I wake her for a bath and then feed her at 7 and then she has a feed about 11 ish, she wakes between 3 and 4 overnight for a bottle.

She sleeps between feeds at the moment where she is tiny still, Ryan did the same til he was about 8 weeks I think.

Typically at 4 weeks old the recommend feeding at least every 3 hours since their tummies are so small.  How is your lo sleeping at night time?  Another reason to wake a baby after 2 hours of daytime sleep is so that they are not robbing night time sleep.

My 5 week old takes anywhere from 3-5oz per feeding, every 2.5-3hrs.  He's even taken a few 6 oz bottles.  Even with more ounces, he has a very hard time lasting 3 hours between feedings, except at night.  I use a paci to get at least 2.5 hrs.

Is it ok to wake a 5 week old baby every 2 hours, and what would you wake them for?? She wouldn't feed every 2 hours as she as done 4 hours since day one. She wouldn't be happy with doing anything for more than half an hour, then she just wants to be asleep again !!!

Today and yesterday she has been stopping herself at 4 ounces, although today at her half 7 PM one she drank the full 5. Had her weighed on Monday and she is 10lb 4oz

They recommend waking after a 2 hour nap during the day time so that they do not confuse daytime and night time sleep and also so that they are not robbing their overnight sleep.  I would not wake during the NIGHT TIME< just during the day!

HTH!
