ya give me some sleeping powder for him,lol.......  i just wish i knew what was up this time... i know he had a ear infection last week but he's done his meds, so all shoudl be better by know!  usually on day 2 of meds he's sleeping normal, not so this time.

i don't know if it's just the growing out of nap phase or what??? he doesn't seem to be ready for bedtime at all when it's time but with the lack of naps and bedtime you would think he would be more then ready????  not actually falling alseep till 9:15 - 10 pm! then up by 6!

{{{{{hugs}}}}} it can take a bit to recover from illness.  How old is he now and what's his daily routine look like - especially in terms of napping/bedtime.  Hang in there!!

he has been up and down still lately.   his routine is pretty much the same almost daily. up before 6:30 am ( lately 5:40! ), nap at 12:30 ( sleeps anywhere from 1hr 15 min to 2 hrs) and bed time 8 ish unless he slept 2 hrs then it's closer to 9 as he only sleeps around 11hrs in 24hrs combined total.  I can't change his routine as he's in daycare during the week. so even when he wakes early nap still is around 12:30, which makes him super overtired and HYPER!!!!!! NON LISTENER!!!!! etc.  he puts up a big scene at napa nd they usually end up calling on me to come in the nap room to calm hima dn get him to sleep as i work at the daycare as well.

Have you tried moving his bedtime earlier?  6:30 - 8:30 is a pretty long day for him - my dd is just over 2 and she is on a 12.5 hr day, 11.5 hr night.  Especially if he's OT (which is probably why you're getting EWs), moving his bedtime earlier might help.

i have tried over and over with a earlier bed time and it doesn't work :(  he wakes up even eariler as he will not sleep past 11.5 hrs max in 24hrs!!!!  i do know he has always been netorious(sp?) for early wakes when over tired since birth. everyone thinks i'm crazy b/c i always have to figure out when bedtime is, etc as he works best around the 6 hr max no more then 6.5A time, so with todays 2 hr nap bedtime will be 8-8:30. oh it's so hard to figure out sometimes.....When i look at it i would say the same , earlier bedtime but it's just doesn't seem to be that easy???? why????

hmmm....how much earlier have you tried the early bedtime?  He could just be on the low end of sleep needs, so a super early bedtime might indeed backfire.  I know with my dd, I never did an early bedtime more than 30 min early.  If I did, I'd get an EW.  So maybe even just a small tweak of bedtime would help?

ya i have done up to 30 min, sometimes it has worked and other times it does indeed backfire. i never know if it will work each time...

last night i had a meeting and nana and papa wwatched him, usualyl bedtime is 8pm and sleeping by8:30... well i got home after 8pm and he was still up ( as expected :<) and he was so WIRED!!!!! it took me about 30 min just to calm him down and ended up having to rub him to sleep to get him to sleep. he didn't fall asleep till 9:30 and that was with my help!  so of course he woke up before 6am and only ended up with 10hr in 24hrs of sleep :(  he was difficult at nap today at daycare and only slept 1hr 10 min, so a early bedtime today. I am aiming for 7:30 so he's sleeping for 8pm... wish me luck! hope it's not too early....

{{{{{{hugs}}}}}} gotta love the late bedtime and hyper bub  - thanks nana and papa :)  If the 30 min early does work sometimes, here's to hoping it does tonight!!  The EW this am was I'm sure OT, and no doubt that's not been helped by the short nap, so your plan sounds good.  Let me know how it goes.

hmmm....how old is he now? 1 hr 10 for a nap doesn't seem unusually short, but his night sure does.  When he wakes at 5:30 - is he happy and ready to go or is he crying?  Do you think the 5:30 could be habitual?  Average length of naps for a 2 year old is 1.5 hrs, at 3, it drops to 1.25 hrs.  The nights for a 2 yo average 11 - 11.5, and that drops to 10.75 at 3, so I'm not sure he's OT.
