vomiting a sign of allergy?
« on: June 19, 2009, 20:19:40 pm »
My dd (almost 8 mos) had cheerios for the first time yesterday around 1pm.  Last night after she had her bedtime bottle she vomited everywhere (not spit up).  It only happened once, but I'm hesitant to try Cheerios again.  Is vomiting a sign of intolerance?  Cheerios have corn ingredients in them and I've suspected corn to be a problem before when I tried powdered Nutramigen (she's now on RTF Alimentum for milk/soy/egg int).
It's hard to imagine a food intolerance and a reaction like vomiting would be so delayed (6 hrs) but who knows???

That's a hard to say.  Usually with an allergy the vomiting is pretty sudden, or in my case it was 2-4 hours later.  I've never seen it happen that late, but I suppose anything is possible!  You can either bring this up with your doctor, or try her with just straight corn in a week or two, in the morning is the best so if she does get sick it's not at bedtime again.  That way if you try the corn straight at least you'd know for sure if it's the corn or something else in the Cheerios.
