Dairy sensitivity causing NW???
« on: June 29, 2009, 12:37:02 pm »
We realized very quickly that my dd has an egg and dairy sensitivity. She's now 5 months and I wanted to try added bits of dairy back into my diet (we are breastfeeding). She hasn't had any rashes or vomiting. She's seems to handle the dairy well. Except that she's very gassy, not pooping and waking every 2 hours at night. She tosses and turns, like she just can't get comfortable. Could this be due to the dairy being added back in??    ???
I've already started taking the dairy back out of my diet, but that takes time to get out of your milk. Any suggestions???
I'm new to BW.....nice to meet you all :)

Welcome!  Nice to meet you too!  :)

I would definitely wait to see what happens once all the dairy is out of your system, which I believe can take up to a month?  Once it's completely out of both your systems you'll have a better idea if this is causing the problems.  Sounds like it could be, and if so may need to wait until she's 1 to try again.  How long has it been since your last dairy intake?

Well- I went dairy free till she was 4 1/2 months, had dairy for 2 weeks, and now back off for the last 2 days. I know it will take some time. But I  wasn't sure if NW was a sign.
Thanks

It's very possible if she's waking due to any type of discomfort, especially if she's gassy.  My son was real gassy on the dairy/soy, so much so I could hear his tummy rumbling and he was always in such discomfort.  I hope you see a difference in her soon!  Let us know how it goes.

My son (now 20 months) has a milk/soy allergy. As I tried to re-introduce milk/soy/wheat free breast milk 2oz/day at 4 mo and then Neutramagen at 12 months. After a week of each I noticed that he tossed and turned a lot. I used to joke that I was sleeping with an octupus because he moved so much. Over time, I have come learn the difference between tummy tossing and turning vs regular tossing and turning.

For what it is worth,

Our bub wakes a lot of a night time, gassy and refluxing...we are just cutting out dairy and soy as our doc thinks he may be MSPI...will be interesting to hear how you go cutting it out again :)

Good luck, hope it all settles down soon
