E is now 16 months (wow!), and he is refusing to give up his morning cat nap. Right now, his routine is:
6:30 am - Wake/Breakfast
9:30 am - Snack
10:45 am - Nap
11:00 - Wake (we wake him at 15 min, otherwise he'll sleep 45 min and then refuse the p.m. nap)
12:00 - Lunch
1:45 - Nap (can take up to 15 minutes to fall asleep)
4:00 - Wake (Sometimes he sleeps to 4, sometimes to 3:30 and then plays quietly until we get him)
4:15 - Snack
6:00 - Dinner
7:15ish - Bed
He is happy during the day, and no EW. I just can't believe, though, that the 15 minute catnap is restorative. Last Saturday, I tried pushing him to noon, so we had lunch at 11:15. At lunch, he was so tired that he pushed all the food off his tray, laid his head down and went to sleep! Just *bonk*, sound asleep on his highchair tray. Sunday, I tried something similar, and by 11:30, he was shaking his crib, pointing inside and crying.
If I let him nap from 11:30 to 2:00 or 2:30 (as I think is suggested in BWSAYP), he wakes every half hour crying during the nap, then he is OT by bedtime, and we get 5am EW from OT. I can't push back his bedtime too much earlier, though, or else we get 5:30/6:00 EW because he's done sleeping, which then means he's too tired to make it to 11:30 or noon for his nap which means...AHH! VICIOUS CIRCLE! Any ideas on how to squeeze that extra half hour out of him and get rid of this 15 minutes?
