bedtime for 15 mo old
« on: July 09, 2009, 19:19:14 pm »
I am having trouble finding the right bedtime for my 15 mo old.  She's been on 1 nap since about a year, and I have tried bedtimes between 6:30 and 8 and nothing seems to work consistently.  How much A time should I expect after nap at this age?

Wake 6:30/7
nap 12:30/1 usually about 2 hrs. so wake 2:30/3

bedtime????

She usually goes into her crib fine, but then after a few min starts to cry and on and on it goes.  I of course go in and comfort her and tell her it's sleepy time, but after I walk out she usually starts back up again.  I don't feel it's separation anxiety, and she does not do this for naps.  I have struggled if this is over tired or under tired, and we have an occasional easy night, but  there is no correlation for those nights.

Any suggestion?
Thanks! :-*

I think 7:15PM? Not too early, not too late? Does she seem to be a low or high sleep needs baby?

She seems low sleep needs, and doesn't act tired at bedtime (even with short nap) unless we've way blown the day ie family event getting home @ 8 or 8:30.

If her cues are easy to read- may do best to take it day by day.
I do this with my LO- on active days he goes down easily and quickly. on quieter days I'll let him stay up a bit later.
I guess I'd try 7:15-7:30ish and see how it goes...

The thing is she never gives me sleepy signs, but when I start her bedtime routine she starts rubbing her eyes and yawning, no matter what time it is.

Yesterday I did 7:15 and amazed me she went off without a peep!  First time in ages.  Tonight I also tried at 7:15 and she gave a brief fight but went off pretty easily comparitively.  She did have a bit shorter nap today, so maybe a tad OT.  Anyway, thanks a lot for pointing me in the right direction.  I really had lost my sense on it... I couldn't tell if she needed 6:30 or 8:30!
